What is myofunctional therapy?

Myofunctional therapy is designed to improve the function of the muscles of the face and mouth.
The therapy focuses on improving muscle tone, strength, coordination and tongue mobility to ensure the correct tongue resting position and proper swallowing pattern and nasal breathing.

What is the goal of therapy?

The therapy addresses issues such as mouth breathing, teeth grinding and sleep disturbances, excessive salivating and atypical swallowing, among other things.

It is advisable to start myofunctional therapy as soon as the first symptoms appear to prevent any further complications.

How does therapy work?

Therapy takes place regularly in three to four stages, and the desired outcomes are usually achieved in one to two years, depending on the age and involvement of the patient and the nature of the problem.

Therapy is a collaboration between the therapist and the patient. I will provide you with the necessary exercises and equipment for daily independent therapy between our sessions.

Snoring

Snoring mostly occurs due to mouth breathing, which has several causes, such as obstruction to nasal breathing, improper positioning of the tongue and lower jaw, etc. This can lead to sleep apnoea if it gets worse.

Functional recovery is for people of all ages

The best time for myofunctional therapy is generally during the active growth phase between the ages of six and ten. Myofunctional therapy is for people of all ages and is suitable for anyone who understands how the therapy works and is able to follow the instructions correctly.

Your treatment journey starts with a personal consultation. If you wish, you can request an initial brief assessment via a message using the online chat widget on the website in the bottom right corner.
1. Consultation 45 €

At the initial consultation, I will provide you with comprehensive information about the therapy, including its possibilities, suitability, duration and cost. If it meets your expectations and needs, we will get to work on drawing a detailed treatment plan.

At this visit you will receive your first myofunctional aligner, and I will provide you with all the instructions you need to be able to carry out the therapy independently on a daily basis. We will meet every few weeks. The first stage lasts two to four months.

Visits during therapy will be scheduled based on the treatment plan and depending on its progress. We will agree on these as we go.

Each stage will be planned based on the treatment plan and depending on its progress. At the beginning of each stage, you will receive a myofunctional aligner, and I will provide you with all the instructions you need to be able to carry out the therapy independently on a daily basis.

Therapy will be stopped once the proper functions have been restored.
